The Federation of Public Transport Sector (FPTS) has issued an official statement in response to the recent suspension of four public transport operators and drivers by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) for breaches of road safety regulations.
While the FPTS fully supports road safety accountability, the organization is urging fairness, consistency, and due process in enforcement actions.

Road Safety is Non-Negotiable
FPTS agrees that operators or drivers who endanger lives must be held accountable under the law.Right to Appeal
Affected operators and drivers have the legal right to appeal through the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB). FPTS encourages anyone who believes due process was not followed to pursue legal recourse.Call for Uniform Enforcement
The federation calls on NTSA and the National Police Service to apply consistent and impartial enforcement across all road user categories, including:Public transport (matatus & buses)
Commercial vehicles (trucks, pick-ups, trailers)
School buses
Boda bodas
Tuk-tuks and taxis
Other motorists
Shared Responsibility
Pedestrians are also encouraged to use footbridges, flyovers, and designated crossings. Road safety is a collective responsibility.Perceived Targeting of PSVs
