Official Statement: KAA Clarifies VVIP Airside Access at JKIA

Kenya Airports Authority Addresses Protocols for Dignitaries

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has issued a press release to clarify recent online discussions regarding a video showing a convoy of SUVs accessing the restricted airside area at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Key Clarification:
The access, which occurred on October 8th, 2025, was for the official motorcade of a visiting Prime Minister of an African country arriving to attend the 24th COMESA Summit in Nairobi. The dignitary was received by a Cabinet Secretary.

KAA confirms that all procedures followed for this VVIP protocol were in strict adherence to established security regulations reserved for state and diplomatic dignitaries. Such protocols are standard practice at JKIA for international summits and fully comply with aviation security standards, ensuring both operational integrity and dignitary safety.
