Kenya Airways has officially discontinued its Nairobi–Eldoret route as of late December 2025, ending a 21-month period since the service was resumed in March 2024.
Passengers attempting to book the route via the Kenya Airways website now receive a notice stating the airline is “unable to recommend flights to Eldoret”—a standard message displayed when a route is no longer operational.
🔄 Route Transition to Jambojet
According to sources within the airline, Kenya Airways has strategically handed over the route to its low-cost subsidiary, Jambojet, which is wholly owned by KQ.
A company insider told Business Daily:
“Kenya Airways continues to serve the route through Jambojet, supporting network optimization while maintaining connectivity.”
This shift leaves Jambojet and Skyward Express as the only carriers operating scheduled flights between Nairobi and Eldoret.
📅 A Brief Revival
KQ had resumed the Eldoret route on 25th March 2024 with five weekly flights, primarily using Embraer 190 aircraft. At the time, former CEO Allan Kilavuka highlighted the route’s importance:
“Our renewed focus on the domestic market reaffirms Kenya Airways’ pivotal role in advancing Africa’s economic prosperity. By connecting Eldoret to our extensive network, we aim to stimulate growth and foster lasting socio-economic development in the region.”
Fares during KQ’s operation averaged Ksh 8,700 one-way and Ksh 15,000 return.
