In a significant boost to Kenya’s aviation sector, Flydubai has launched a new direct service connecting Dubai and Nairobi, operating four times weekly, while simultaneously increasing its Mombasa route to daily flights. This expansion brings the carrier’s total weekly services to Kenya to 11, significantly enhancing air connectivity between the UAE and East Africa.
The new Nairobi service was officially inaugurated this evening during a vibrant reception ceremony at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). This increased capacity is expected to strengthen tourism, facilitate business travel, and enhance air cargo flows, supporting Kenya’s economic growth and trade relations with the Gulf region.
Flydubai becomes the sixth international carrier to expand its Kenyan presence in 2025, following recent new connections by Gulf Air, Flightlink, Salam Air, TAAG Angola, and Flynas. This wave of expansion signals strong market confidence in Kenya’s growth potential and strategic position as an East African hub.
The launch event saw representation from Kenya Airports Authority leadership, including Operations and Safety General Manager Dr. Simon Peter, Security General Manager Mr. Joseph Okumu, and Marketing and Business Development General Manager Mr. Abraham Kipruto, underscoring the route’s strategic importance to Kenya’s aviation sector.
This expansion aligns with Kenya’s national objectives to deepen global connectivity, attract foreign investment, and strengthen its role as a regional hub for trade and tourism. The increased frequencies will provide travelers with greater choice and flexibility while contributing to job creation, tourism revenue, and broader economic development.
