Title: Karibu, Tutunze Pamoja! (Welcome, Let’s Conserve Together!)

Exploring a Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) park is an incredible experience. To ensure the safety of both wildlife and visitors and to help conserve these precious habitats, please adhere to the following important rules.

Respect for Wildlife

  • Their Home, Their Rules: Remember you are a guest in the animals’ habitat. Respect their privacy and space.

  • Keep Your Distance: Always maintain a minimum distance of 20 meters from wildlife. Pull over to the side of the road to allow other vehicles to pass.

  • No Feeding: Never feed the animals. It disrupts their natural diet and can create dangerous dependence on humans.

  • Stay Calm: Do not crowd animals, make sudden noises, or hoot your car horn. Stay quiet to avoid disturbing them.

Vehicle Safety

  • Stay on the Road: Off-road driving is strictly prohibited as it severely damages the ecosystem.

  • Speed Limit: The maximum speed limit is 40 kph (25 mph). Over-speeding can result in a ban from the park.

  • Stay Inside: Remain inside your vehicle at all times unless you are in a designated area (e.g., a picnic site or lodge).

Environmental Care

  • Plastic-Free Zones: All KWS parks, reserves, and sanctuaries are plastic-free zones. Do not bring plastic materials inside.

  • No Littering: Do not litter or discard cigarette butts. If camping, never leave fires unattended.

Cultural Respect

  • Ask for Permission: Always ask for permission before taking photographs of local people or their homes.

  • Dress Decorum: Respect Kenyan cultural traditions by dressing appropriately.

Park Hours & Assistance

  • Park Hours: Visitors must leave the park by 6:00 p.m. unless they are registered campers.

  • Night Game Drives: Are allowed at an additional fee. Please enquire with park management.

  • Emergency Contacts:

    • Toll-Free: 0800 597 000

    • WhatsApp: +254 726 610 509

    • In case of genuine delays, call the hotline for assistance.
