Comedian and activist Eric Omondi is championing the revival of legendary Luo gospel singer Caroline Omwaya, widely known as Nyar Kanaan, with a major comeback concert set for Kisumu Sports Ground and a pledge to rebuild her life and career.
After visiting the singer in her rural home in Homa Bay County—where she has been living in difficult conditions since leaving the music scene—Eric shared her M-Pesa number (0702 105 913, registered under Caroline Omwaya) and rallied public support.
He committed to constructing a new house for her and organizing a special concert to reintroduce her inspirational music to fans.
True to his word, Eric has announced the Nyar Kanaan Rebirth Concert, scheduled for November 16, 2025, at Kisumu Sports Ground. A recent video showed Nyar Kanaan arriving in Kisumu and starting rehearsals for the event.
Eric also outlined long-term plans to sustain her career, including launching a YouTube channel, recording new songs, and releasing refreshed versions of her beloved 90s and early 2000s hits.
He ended with a warm invitation to fans in Kisumu, across Kenya, and around the world to join the celebration of her return at Kisumu Sports Ground—what he calls “the biggest rebirth.”
