The County Government of Kisumu remains steadfast in its mission to drive socio-infrastructural growth, and this week took a significant step forward by hosting a high-level delegation from Yiyang City in China’s Hunan Province.
The delegation, led by Mr. Yin Yingjie, Deputy Director of the Yiyang Municipal Bureau of Commerce, included Chinese government officials and private sector representatives. Their fact-finding mission aims to foster bilateral ties and explore tangible opportunities in key sectors such as:
-
Urban development
-
Waste and sewerage treatment
-
Affordable housing
-
Security surveillance systems
This visit establishes a foundation for long-term, practical collaboration designed to create growth opportunities for the people of Kisumu.
The potential partnership follows the successful model of KEDA Ceramics International in Miwani, where a similar collaboration has created hundreds of local jobs and expanded business and trade prospects.
The meeting was attended by Mama Kisumu Dorothy Nyong’o, County Secretary Hesbon Hongo, and several key officers including CECMs George Okong’o (Finance), Judith Oluoch (Water and Environment), and Dr. Konyango Charles (Lands & Urban Development), alongside City Manager Abala Wanga and County Attorney Otieno Aluoka.
