Kisumu, Kenya — 9th October 2025
The Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services, through the State Department for Children Services, will today lead a major environmental drive at Usoma Beach and Holo Market ahead of Mazingira Day celebrations.
The event, spearheaded by Principal Secretary CPA Carren Ageng’o, focuses on tree planting and clean-up activities under the theme “Citizen-centric Tree Growing and Environmental Stewardship.” It forms part of the national Mission 15B #JazaMiti campaign, which seeks to plant 15 billion trees across the country.
With the call to action #TurudiPrimoTukaDonateFruitTrees, the initiative encourages Kenyans to plant fruit trees while promoting community-led environmental action. Partners supporting the event include Kenya Forest Service, NEMA, Plan International, M-Taka, and Betterline Water Ltd among others.
Speaking ahead of the event, PS Carren Ageng’o urged Kenyans to embrace environmental responsibility, saying:
“Every tree we plant is a promise to the next generation — for cleaner air, better health, and a sustainable future.”
